Adaptive Skills & Values-Based Support

Behavior Analytic Services are available to those living in Virginia

Behavioral science meets ACT. Support built around the life you want to live.

Not traditional ABA. Not about compliance. About connection, autonomy, and meaningful change.

At Creekside Therapeutics, we believe that support should help people build lives that work for them—not teach them to become someone else.

Our Adaptive Skills & Values-Based Support Program combines principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and contextual behavioral science to offer a different approach to building practical, meaningful skills.

Instead of focusing on compliance, masking, or changing harmless differences, we focus on understanding what matters to you, identifying barriers, developing useful skills, and creating supportive environments where you can thrive.

Our program is neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed, collaborative, and designed around each person's individual goals.

What makes our approach different?

Traditional ABA is often associated with structured behavioral programs, intensive hours, and a focus on increasing or decreasing specific behaviors.

Our approach uses behavioral science differently.

We begin with curiosity rather than compliance.

We ask what a behavior communicates, what environmental factors may be contributing, what supports are missing, and what meaningful changes the person actually wants to make.

We incorporate ACT principles such as values, acceptance, psychological flexibility, present-moment awareness, and committed action into practical, everyday skill development.

Our goal is not to eliminate neurodivergent traits. It is to support autonomy, connection, access, and meaningful participation in everyday life.

You don't have to become someone else to build a life that works better for you.

Who is this program for?

Children & Families

Our family-focused services help children, teens, and caregivers develop practical strategies that honor individual needs while supporting everyday life.

Areas of focus may include:

  • Emotional regulation and understanding support needs
  • Executive functioning and daily routines
  • Communication and self-advocacy
  • Navigating transitions and unexpected changes
  • Increasing independence with meaningful daily activities
  • Sensory-aware environmental supports
  • Collaborative caregiver strategies
  • Building connection, flexibility, and confidence

Caregivers are invited to collaborate in ways that support the child rather than simply trying to change their behavior.

Teens & Adults

Adaptive skills support isn't just for children.

Many neurodivergent teens and adults benefit from individualized support in translating their goals, values, and intentions into practical action.

We may work together on:

  • Executive functioning, organization, and routines
  • Initiating and completing meaningful tasks
  • Self-advocacy and setting boundaries
  • Navigating transitions and life changes
  • Emotional regulation and psychological flexibility
  • Communication and relationship skills
  • Building independence at home, work, or school
  • Identifying values and moving toward personally meaningful goals

This isn't about productivity for productivity's sake. It's about developing skills and supports that help you participate in the things that matter to you.

How does it work?

1. Connect and explore.

We begin with an individualized assessment to learn about strengths, experiences, values, support needs, and meaningful goals.

2. Develop your support plan.

Jessica Coleman BCBA, LBA develops an individualized, measurable plan using collaborative and neurodiversity-affirming approaches.

3. Practice skills in real life.

You'll work with a trained Behavior Assistant or Registered Behavior Technician, under qualified clinical supervision, to build and practice skills that support your goals.

4. Reflect and adjust.

We'll regularly review progress, experiences, and preferences, and adapt the plan as your needs evolve.

We don't believe everyone needs the same number of hours or the same type of support. Your services should reflect your goals and circumstances.
