Yoga for Mental Health - Your Mind-Body Connection

Experience the profound connection between your mind and body. Yoga for Mental Health utilizes the foundations of mindfulness, breathing techniques, and postures to specifically address mental health concerns. This is not a typical studio yoga class; it is a specialized, therapeutic approach designed to support your emotional well-being and personal growth as an adjunctive service to traditional talk therapy or as a valuable standalone practice.

Who can benefit from Yoga for Mental Health?

Therapeutic yoga is for everyone, regardless of experience or flexibility. We'll work with you to understand your unique mind-body connection and tailor practices to support your needs.

This approach can be particularly helpful for individuals struggling with:

  • Anxiety & Stress Management
  • Depression & Mood Imbalances
  • Trauma and its effects on the body
  • ADD/ADHD & Focus
  • Grief/Loss & Life Transitions
  • Self-Esteem & Self-Harm
  • Compassion Fatigue (for caregivers and professionals)

What to Expect in Your Session

Your therapeutic yoga session is guided by Jessica Coleman, a Licensed Mental Health Professional and Registered Yoga Teacher, ensuring a safe and informed experience.

  • Holistic & Personalized: Sessions incorporate yoga philosophy, breathing techniques (pranayama), gentle movement, and mindfulness practices to promote emotional balance and self-awareness.
  • Trauma-Informed: Practices are tailored to be safe and accessible for individuals who have experienced trauma.
  • Flexible Integration: Sessions can be used as a supplement to your current talk therapy (at Creekside or elsewhere) or as a focused, stand-alone practice.

Jessica's Specialized Expertise

Jessica brings a highly specialized background to this therapeutic service:

  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-S): She is a mental health professional first, ensuring the practices are clinically relevant to your well-being.
  • Specialized Yoga Training: Her initial 200-hour yoga teacher training was specifically designed for mental health professionals.
  • Social Justice Focus: Her advanced 300-hour training was rooted in social justice, deepening her understanding of how yoga can be used to promote equity and inclusivity in healing spaces.
  • Group Experience: Jessica has extensive experience leading therapeutic groups and workshops, including mindful movement for youth with ADHD.
