Walk & Talk

Walk & Talk: Reconnect with Yourself & Find Support through Movement


Are you  in the Lynchburg area seeking connection, stress relief, and time for yourself? Join our "Walk & Talk" group therapy, a unique opportunity to combine the benefits of movement, nature, and meaningful conversation.


 

What to Expect:

  • Guided walks in nature: Explore Lynchburg's trails with other women. (Alternative plans for inclement weather.)
  • Supportive community: Connect with others who understand your joys and challenges.
  • Mindful movement: Reduce stress and connect with your body through walking.
  • Meaningful discussions: Share experiences, explore relevant topics, and gain new perspectives.
  • Therapist facilitation: Leah Gear guides discussions and creates a safe and supportive space.


Benefits of Moving with Others:

  • Reduced stress and anxiety: Exercise and social interaction are powerful stress relievers.
  • Improved mood: Physical activity boosts endorphins, which have mood-lifting effects.
  • Increased self-esteem:  Connecting with others and achieving goals can improve self-confidence.
  • Enhanced creativity:  Walking can spark new ideas and perspectives.

  • Dates: 1st and 3rd Saturdays, beginning March 1st
  • Time:  9:00AM-10:30AM
  • Duration: 1.5 hours
  • Location: Lynchburg, VA area (specific locations will be shared with participants)
  • Ages: 18+
  • Cost: $40 per session (limited to 12 participants)

Mindful Caregiving

Are you a caregiver feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or burnt out?  Join our supportive online community for a monthly "Lunch & Learn" workshop designed to provide you with practical tools and strategies to enhance your mental well-being.


Who is a caregiver? If you provide support to a family member, friend, or neighbor of any age with a physical or mental health condition, you're a caregiver. This could include caring for a child with special needs, an aging parent, a spouse with a chronic illness, or someone recovering from an injury.


What to Expect:


Each month, Heidi Olson will guide you in a different topic related to caregiver mental health, including:

  • Self-Compassion & Resilience: Learn practical exercises to cultivate self-compassion and build resilience in the face of challenges.
  • Mindfulness in Daily Life: Discover simple mindfulness techniques you can incorporate into your daily routine to reduce stress and find moments of peace.
  • Managing Challenging Emotions: Develop effective strategies for coping with anxiety, grief, and frustration that often accompany caregiving.
  • Effective Communication: Improve your communication skills to navigate difficult conversations with loved ones, medical professionals, and support networks.
  • Building a Support System: Learn how to connect with other caregivers and access valuable resources in your community.
  • Self-Care Strategies: Prioritize your well-being and create a personalized self-care plan to prevent burnout and enhance your overall quality of life.


Join us on the Third Monday of every month from 12-1pm ET. Connect with fellow caregivers, share experiences, and learn valuable skills to help you thrive in your caregiving journey. $10 per session or Pay-What-You-Can.

Grief Edushop

Grief is a natural response to loss, but it can often feel overwhelming and isolating. Our Monthly Grief Edushop provides a safe and supportive space to explore the complexities of grief, learn coping strategies, and connect with others who understand.


Who is this workshop for?


This workshop is for anyone who has experienced a loss, whether it's the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, a job loss, or any other significant life change.


What to Expect:


In this workshop, you'll:

  • Gain a deeper understanding of grief: Explore the different stages of grief and how it can manifest physically, emotionally, and mentally.
  • Learn coping strategies: Discover practical tools and techniques for navigating the challenges of grief led by Heidi Olson.
  • Connect with others: Share your experiences and find support in a community of understanding.
  • Develop self-compassion:  Learn to be kind to yourself during this difficult time.
  • Find hope and healing:  Begin to move forward on your grief journey with greater awareness and resilience.


Join us on the Third Monday of every month from 7-8pm ET. Connect with others, share experiences, and learn valuable skills to help you move through this journey. $10 per session or Pay-What-You-Can.
